Dear Community Member,

No person, no family, should have to experience poverty, the threat of poverty, or be worried that due to financial hardship, their lives could be altered.

We’re Collaborating on Poverty Elimination WNY Inc. (COPE), a nonprofit organization in your community. We established ourselves in late 2023 to eliminate poverty through the partner organizations of the Community Health Center of Buffalo, Buffalo Federation of Neighborhood Centers, and Community Action Organization of WNY. We aim to improve the health and well-being of communities of color and other historically marginalized populations in Erie and Niagara County.

We’re reaching out to you as a neighbor, partner, and stakeholder in the fight against poverty. We have a vested interest in seeing our community thrive. Those who are impacted the most by poverty are also our neighbors, family members, and friends. In Erie and Niagara counties, these include our children, young families, older adults, our 2SLGBTQQIA+ community, persons with disabilities, BIPOC communities, and other marginalized groups.

Raising awareness of our cause and our work is crucial if we’re going to address the root causes of poverty and make a long-term impact. We cannot do it alone.

Would you consider donating at least $20 to help us reach our fundraising goal of $10,000?

If we reach this target goal before October 1st, 2024, we’ll be able to fund critical components for the organization, like renting an office space, hosting our first fundraising event, or establishing a free loan closet of items for families to access as needed. You can help us get there! Please visit our donation page here to get started: www.copewny.org.

Also, please explore our website to learn more about our mission, vision, and values.

Together, we can make a difference in our community! Please contact me if you have any questions about our organization or how you can get involved.

Thanks, and we hope to hear from you soon!

COPE WNY INC. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization; no goods or services will be provided in exchange for your contribution, and all gifts are tax-deductible.

“Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice. It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life.”
